Annoyed by the rejection of his Nude Descending A Staircase in Paris, Duchamp moved to Munich in 1912. Yielding important inspirations for future works such as Large Glass and Bicycle Wheel, he considered his 3-month stay in the Bavarian capital “the place of my total liberation.”
